Terms of service

Hire

We try our best to send all items to you a day early, giving you plenty of time to set them up, test and check them before use.  All faults, missing items, damage or troubleshooting must be reported to us within 24 hours of delivery.  This gives us time to resolve any issues and even send replacements if required.  We are not responsible of any of these issues if they are reported after 24 hours.  All items are checked and charged before we send them.

1) Risk of damage to, or loss of, any goods will be passed to you, the hirer, from the time the goods are delivered. Please ensure safe keeping of all our equipment from within this time. 

2) Any damage incurred to the equipment during the hire period will be the responsibility of the hirer.

3) The cost of any repair to the hire equipment due to damage will be charged to the hirer at cost price.

4) The replacement of any damaged or lost Headsets will be charged at £45 per item.

5) The replacement of any damaged or lost Transmitters will be charged at £100 per item.

6) The replacement of any damaged or lost MP3 Players will be charged at £30 per item.

For any damaged or missing items, missed collections or additional days, we will send an invoice after the hire, payable within 30 days.

7) The hirer will take every step possible to ensure that no drinks or other liquids are placed near the equipment.

8) Any children using the equipment under the age of 16 should be supervised.

9) The supplier is responsible for public liability insurance to the value of £10.000,000. ( ten million pounds )

10) Silent Disco Stars Ltd cannot be held responsible for any damage caused to the hirers property by extras hired such as smoke machines, bubble machines or pyrotechnics.

11) Please Ensure All items are in the correct Boxes as they arrived prior to collection along with the cable ties secured to the boxes, which are provided in the set with the setup instructions, failure to do this may have items fall out on the return to Silent Disco Stars Warehouse, and any missing items will be charged at cost per item.

12) The client is responsible for the collection of the package by the courier on the agreed day. Failure to comply or be available for collection of the equipment will mean you will have to arrange for the return of the items at your cost and you will also incur a charge of £75 per additional day that the goods are late returned to us.  The cost of hire includes one collection and we get charged this, even if you miss the collection.

13)The client is responsible for being available to take delivery of the package on the day agreed.

Purchase

The technical steps required to create the contract between you and us for online purchases are as follows:

  • You place the order for your products on our Website by pressing the confirm order button at the end of the checkout process. You will be guided through the process of placing an order by a series of simple instructions on the Website.
  • We will send to you an order acknowledgement email detailing the products you have ordered. This is not an order confirmation or order acceptance.
  • As your product is shipped from our warehouse we will send you a dispatch confirmation email.
  • Order acceptance and the completion of the contract between you and us will take place on the despatch to you of the Products ordered.
  • You will be separately notified in the event that we do not accept your order, or where you have otherwise cancelled your order.
  • A contract is formed between us when (and not before) we dispatch your order.
  • In the case of goods purchased through our Click & Collect service, a contract is formed between us when (and not before) you collect your items. Your order will not be progressed until we verify payment.

By placing an order with us you agree that:

  1. Any information provided by you will be true, accurate, current and complete
  2. You are the authorised holder of any credit or debit card you may use on the website
  3. You will notify us immediately of any changes to any information you have submitted to the website
  4. We may collect, store and use information about you in accordance with our Privacy Policy
  5. You will only use the material on the website for your personal use only, and not for any commercial purpose whatsoever
  6. You are not authorised to publish images, videos or content to be online without prior approval, this includes all television, media, internet use, not excluding social media, Tik Tok and Youtube.
  7. Use of our brand name Silent Disco Stars in any form, including product images or videography is prohibited without prior permission. 
  8. By clicking Confirm Order you are confirming your acceptance of these terms and conditions and that you are giving us permission to pre authorise your account upon order and debit your account upon dispatch / collection.
  9. E-mails sent will be deemed as read, it is your responsibility to ensure that the email address supplied is accurate and capable of receiving our e-mails
  10. You have read and accept all terms and conditions including in particular the terms in relation to Price and Promotions, Shipping and Delivery, Contract Cancellation, Returns and Refunds and Data Protection.
  11. Products are for family domestic use only

Resale of our Products

If we reasonably believe that you are buying products from us with the intention of reselling them or in circumstances where it appears that bulk buying, reselling, drop-shipping or repeated orders for the same item/s are occurring, we may:

  1. refuse to accept your order; or
  2. cancel your order; or
  3. accept your order subject to agreeing additional or alternative terms with you (see below); and
  4. treat your order as though you are buying products in the course of your business.

In such circumstances, any rights that are granted only to a ‘consumer’ under consumer protection legislation shall not apply to you.

Additional and alternative terms which shall apply to such orders shall include:

  1. Consumer rights to cancel the contract within 14 days shall not apply;
  2. Our 28 days goodwill returns policy shall not apply;
  3. If the products are faulty or misdescribed, you may return them to us within 7 days. Where you use our returns service, you shall be charged the postage or other cost of returning any products to us (even where those products are faulty or misdescribed). We shall also charge you a reasonable handling fee for processing your return. Returns received after 7 days will not be processed.
  4. You will not be permitted to order products which are subject to promotions or special offers.

We reserve the right to vary these terms and conditions at any time but, in respect of any ordered goods, the terms and conditions which apply shall be those which the customer has accepted when an order has been placed. Once an order is placed customers are deemed to have read and agreed to the terms and conditions.  Any errors regarding website based information, quotation, price list, acceptance of offer, invoice or other documentation or information issued by us may be subject to correction without any liability on our part.

Contract Cancellation 

Due to the quick turnaround of orders we are unable to guarantee to amend an order once it has been placed. Customers must ensure they check their order carefully before submitting it.

Please note that you are entitled to cancel this contract if you so wish provided that you exercise your right and notify us no longer than 14 working days after the day on which you receive the Products.

If you wish to exercise your right to cancel this contract we will refund the original purchase price and delivery charge, provided that you have notified us in writing no longer than 14 working days after the day on which you receive the Products, that you have taken reasonable care of the Products and they remain unused and unopened. Please see our Returns policy here for further details.

Please note that your right to return Products does not apply to Products which fall into the following categories unless they are faulty or not clearly as described - Unsealed CDs, DVDs and also microphones for hygiene reasons. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Shipping and Delivery

We are delighted to offer a number of different shipping and delivery options to cater to our customers' requirements. We try to offer the best and most competitive shipping rates and any charges are only covering the cost of shipping as incurred by us from our third party delivery service providers. Where possible, we subsidise the shipping charge and do not pass this on to our customers. Please see here for further details on Shipping and Delivery options and terms.

Stock Outs
Usually everything displayed on our site as In Stock is present in our business and available for immediate sale.

In the unlikely event that any ordered goods are not readily available to us, we reserve the right to cancel your order. You will receive an email notification of any order cancellation as a result of stock out confirming that any pre-authorisation has been released and/or payment refunded for the goods in question, in line with our Payment Terms. To the extent that the out of stock item forms part of a larger order, all other goods ordered by the customer will be dispatched in the normal way.

An approximate lead time will be displayed for items out of stock, although this is subject to change.

Returns

We are happy to exchange or refund goods if returned within 28 days of purchase, provided the goods are unused, unopened, in their original condition and packaging with all materials, manuals and accessories intact. All returns must be accompanied by a valid Silent Disco Stars order number.

Unwanted items

You can return your unwanted item within 28 days of receipt unused, unopened, in its original condition and packaging, your return must be in a re-sellable condition.

You will be liable for the cost of returning the goods to us and must ensure that they are returned in protective packaging. Where an item is damaged or returned otherwise than as per our stated requirements above, we reserve the right to refuse redress.

Returned items should be insured and tracked for your protection.

Refunds on unwanted items

Once the unwanted item is received back to the warehouse it will be checked and granted it meets our return policy conditions we will then offer a refund for this item. Refunds will be applied to the payment method that was used to purchase the item.  Refunds will be minus our initial cost to send the item (currently £6).

Warranty

There is a one year warranty on all Silent Disco products. 

Warranty Returns

You will be liable for the cost of returning the goods to us and must ensure that they are returned in protective packaging. Where an item is damaged or returned otherwise than as per our stated requirements above, we reserve the right to refuse redress.  

Returned items should be insured and tracked for your protection.

We will access, repair or replace all items with a valid warranty and cover the return shipping cost back to you. 

Remote controls, microphones and cables are not covered under warranty.  Any that arrive faulty, must be reported within the first 28 days from receiving your order.

Please note: Modifications, alterations, cosmetic damage (intentional or unintentional) may invalidate warranty.  Please check before sending any items back to us if you are unsure.

Info: You should receive notification of your refund within 10 working days after your parcel has been returned. If you have not received notification of your refund within 10 working days, please contact us.

Music Licensing

  1. The hire company supplies silent disco equipment only (headphones, transmitters, and accessories) and is not responsible for music licensing.

  2. The hirer is solely responsible for ensuring that any music played through the equipment is properly licensed. This includes, where applicable:

    • A PRS for Music licence for the performance of musical compositions and lyrics.

    • A PPL licence for the use of recorded sound recordings.

  3. For private events (such as weddings, birthday parties, or private functions held in a home), a licence is generally not required.

  4. For public events (such as club nights, festivals, community events, or functions in public venues), the hirer must ensure that the appropriate licences are obtained, either by themselves or by the venue.

Damaged / Faulty Items / Items Missing

We strive to ensure all your purchases reach you in perfect condition. If you receive a delivery and the item is damaged please refuse the delivery. Where the damage is not noticeable until you open your parcel, please contact us immediately by emailing us or using the contact form.

In the unlikely event that you receive a faulty item, you may return this item to us in accordance with your statutory rights.

You can return your items purchased online by contacting us with details of the issue.

In all cases, items will be inspected and if confirmed as faulty we will issue a suitable form of redress (replacement/repair/refund).

If an item is not deemed faulty following inspection, then we are unable to offer a replacement or refund. A reason will be given as to why the product is in dispute. We will return such items to the customer at the customer’s cost.

In dispute items will be retained by us for 30 days from the date of notification to the customer that no fault has been found and may be destroyed by us after this time where the cost of re-shipping the item to the customer has not been received.

For help and advice on what to do where you believe an item to be faulty, please contact citizens advice.  We suggest that before you return an item as faulty, please ensure you have checked the batteries, please note that all battery operated products work best with alkaline batteries.  We would also suggest you contact us to troubleshoot an issue, prior to returning an item. 

Please note that items that arrive faulty, are not working, or have parts missing must be reported to us within 28 days of receiving the order.  After this, they will be treated as a standard warranty issue.

Unwanted items

You can return your unwanted item within 28 days of receipt unused, unopened, in its original condition and packaging, your return must be in a re-sellable condition.
